My Life in Art

My System of Stanislavsky

My life in art – a fundamental question for each of us.

What defines me as an artist? Do I have an image of my theatre? As an actor, do I wait for the director’s instructions or do I have my own vision? As a director, do I have a clear image that I can convey and how do I deal with the artistic personalities I work with? What working methods do I use?

The name and work of the great theatre master Konstantin Sergeyevich Stanislavsky is characterised by the term SYSTEM. A deceptive term that suggests permanence and a guarantee of success.

The constant doubter Stanislavsky proofs both as inaccurate in his work “My Life in Art”. Systematic and methodical thinking, on the other hand, has made the professionalisation of the art of acting possible in the first place.

100 years later, we have a completely different theatre. But many questions and themes are still relevant in terms of their precision. What are the answers? Diverse, like our theatre, individual like the personalities!

One’s own system is what leads to one’s individual artistic personality. Let us take the time to develop our own systems, diverse and unique.

Jurij Alschitz, together with his dialogue partner Olga Lapina, invites you to find your own position from the rich heritage and to underpin it with craftsmanship. Theory and practice will go hand in hand.

“At our first meeting we will talk about systematics and “unsystematics”, order and disorder, harmony and chaos. The topic is extremely relevant in modern science. Everything in the world is systemic, from the hydrogen atom to the universe. Every system is built according to certain rules, lives its own life, dies its own death and follows its own laws. But how can these laws be used in theatre? ” J. Alschitz

The course “My System of Stanislavsky” comprises 9 meetings, one per month. Grant yourself a continuing project that stimulates and integrates into your daily artistic work life.
