World Theatre Day 2023

online version

World Theatre Day 2023

“It is our mission, since the first appearance of the first actor on the first stage, to be at the forefront of confronting everything that is ugly, bloody, and inhuman. We confront it with everything that is beautiful, pure, and human. We, and no one else, have the ability to spread life. Let us spread together for the sake of one world and one humanity.”

With this concluding sentence of Samiha Ayoub’s message for World Theatre Day 2023, we would like to share with you our unwavering belief in the power of the arts and in the healing potential of beauty. Let us stand strong together against inhumanity and in solidarity with all those for whom playing theatre today still means a personal risk.

Regardless of all adversities worldwide, we wish all colleagues a happy life in the theater!

Dr. Jurij Alschitz
