Teaching the Vertical of the Role

Teaching the Vertical of the Role

Get the methodological steps for your own teaching practice

Of course, any acting teacher can read the book by Jurij Alschitz, who developed this highly effective method of preparing for the role, and teach it accordingly.
Don’t you want to go through the process yourself beforehand?
How much more exciting to do it collaboratively, asking questions about the methodology and further developing it for yourself in the process.

This online course is aimed at both actors and teachers who, in this double role, will be able to do all the steps themselves and reflect on them at the same time. In additional personal coaching, one’s own artistic process is supported and pedagogical questions can be answered directly.

The actor’s self-preparation is a missing link in most training programmes, yet the development of a “Vertical” – once gone through – becomes the perfect tool that is helpful in every situation, whether in theatre or film, for the preparation of a leading role or especially for episodic characters in series to which the director does not pay much attention. In particular, this methodology helps the independent development of a role for the preparation of auditions.

The Vertical of the Role leads to sovereignty and self-confidence in the encounter with the director and colleagues; it leads to artistic independence and freedom by bringing to light personal potentials in order to be able to express one’s own thoughts and ideas on stage.

I would like to warmly invite you to this process. In 7 weekly meetings we will discuss the work steps one by one and do many practical exercises – this can be done online!
Of course, this will involve your own work and implementation of the tasks, which we will then discuss together again. In addition, 2 individual coaching sessions will support you in developing your own monologue from the many ideas and possibilities. It will be shown online at the end, but above all will have been created for further realisation on stage.

We will move together in the Chekhov cosmos – you choose a character that you have always wanted to play.

I am looking forward to the artistic encounter!
