Dear friends and colleagues,

The World Theatre Training Institute AKT-ZENT/ITI is launching the online directing course The School of Directing in November.

It is a unique opportunity to be introduced by Dr Jurij Alschitz to the secrets of directing, especially the methodical preparation. It is the sovereignty and mastery in dealing with texts, with all the parameters of a production and finally with the actors that makes one’s own talent blossom.

In the School of Directing, directors acquire essential knowledge how to develop and implement ideas for a performance, but also actors how to stage their roles, and theatre teachers how to use the art of directing in their pedagogical work. Here, directing is conveyed in its comprehensive meaning – as a world view, as an art, as a craft and as a tool.

The School of Directing is a 4-month intensive programme in three block seminars with a total of 18 sessions. In between, participants are given extensive assignments so that they can develop the expertise they have gained into their own methodology. In this programme, Jurij Alschitz practices the Quantum Pedagogy he developed, which is based both on impulses and on a holistic concept of theatre.
