If there is energy – there are signs of life. If there is no energy, nothing will help your performance. The director’s first skill lies in the ability to find the sources of energy in the performance and in the technique of managing these energies. It’s a question of the life-span of your work.

With the theme ENERGY, Jurij Alschitz opens a 5-week course series for directors.
Whether with or without specific training as a director, whether at the beginning or with many years of experience, the open questions tend to become more rather than fewer. Professionalism is reflected in the fact – as we know from Stanislavsky – that there are more questions at the end of each production than at the beginning.
This is where the course comes in: Jurij Alschitz addresses the central questions from the perspective of the master, who himself continues to pose provocative questions to the theatre; but who above all has an immense wealth of experience to pass on….
So we start with ENERGY, the basis of all life – on our planet and in art.
Where to take it from? Where to find? How to develop? How to transform? How to control?
The questions arise both for the conception phase and time of analysis, as well as for the rehearsal work and ultimately for the whole production.
In the directing it becomes apparent whether the director is working with Stone Age means or refined high technology. It is simply a matter of “know-how”
