Courses for directors and teachers

read in browser

Dear friends and colleagues,

The World Theatre Training Institute AKT-ZENT / ITI research centre is delighted to announce several online courses in directing, teaching and theatre pedagogy with Dr Jurij Alschitz, starting in February. Actors are of course very welcome!

You have the choice: short informative impulses, practice-oriented seminars, an intensive training course on quantum pedagogy in theatre education, and even a unique one-to-one programme for directing/acting/teaching with an individually tailored curriculum.

For those who want to gain practical directing experience under Jurij Alschitz’s guidance: The XVI International Theatre Summer Academy invites you to the ART PICNIC in the chestnut forests of Montecreto in Italy from 18 July to 2 August. We recommend taking advantage of the early bird deadlines until 1 February / 1 April and look forward to interesting artistic encounters!

Here is our overview for the coming months. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. Consultations via Zoom are always possible.

A treasure chest opens:

The Director’s Rehearsal Methods

The indispensable know-how for Directors, Teachers and Actors

“The true art of directing reveals itself in the ability to work with actors.
All rehearsal methods can be compared to keys with which you can, so to speak, “open” the actor, the role and the play. They, like all keys, are somewhat similar, but nevertheless differ in a small “prong” and therefore open different locks.”

First-hand knowledge

As a master of guiding actors, Jurij Alschitz has developed his unique rehearsal methods over many years – here you can learn things that are not taught at any academy.

Sat 21 + Sun 22 March
Sat 11 + Sun 12 April
Sat 9 + Sun 10 May
Sat 30 + Sun 31 May
at 15:00 – 17:30
(UTC+1)

The quantum leap

The new Face of the Acting Teacher

Rethinking teaching, re-inventing oneself as pedagogue.

Jurij Alschitz invites you to become part of the first generation of quantum theatre teachers: “In this master class, you will encounter a new philosophy of teaching, where a lesson is understood as a living organism and the teacher as a field in which knowledge and ignorance, order and chaos, thought and action come together.”

This is a 3-month programme for all those who have set themselves the goal of training the next generation of actors and enabling them to perform in a theatre that we do not yet know today.

Passing on knowledge is a nobel tradition, but there is a danger of stagnation. This course is for all those who see teaching as a research process and who not only teach students, but are themselves a driving force for new forms of acting and stage presence.

Sat 18 + Sun 19 April
15:00 – 18:00

Rethinking the art of acting

The Actor in Superposition

Research Seminar: new Technologies of Acting

For advanced practicing actors and directors

Dr Jurij Alschitz will talk about innovations in acting practice resulting from the application of quantum physics. At first glance they may seem impossible, but at second glance they show us the way to pioneering forms of acting.

Practice

XVI International Theatre Summer Academy 2026

Artistic Direction: Dr Jurij Alschitz / International team of teachers

With its annual International Theatre Summer Academy, the World Theatre Training Institute offers a supplement to drama school programmes and therefore offers both students and professional theatre professionals a unique opportunity for personal advanced training.

Two courses for Acting and Directing
with a common theme:
From the Energy of the Word to the Energy of the Scene

This year’s academy will explore with you the relationship between the energy of the actor, the energy of words, the energy of performance, the energy of the stage, and the energy of the surrounding world.

“Nature is artificial, and art is natural.” (Oscar Wilde)

At the joint ART PICNIC, we will explore the profound interaction between art and its surroundings. We will have the opportunity to hear, feel and see how the energy of a theatre performance can enliven the environment and nature, and how the energy of nature can inspire actors to find new forms of self-expression.

The directors will work together with the participating actors to explore the relationship between the energy of the actor, the energy of the words, the energy of the performance, the energy of the stage and the energy of the world around us.

This summer, we invite you on a journey of discovery to the boundaries between art and nature, body and space, reality and fiction.
