Dear friends and colleagues,
I would like to invite actors (and acting teachers!) to a project that I successfully carried out a few years ago. Actresses started working on a Vertical of the Role online during the Corona period and then realised it on a finca in Ibiza – it was an exciting experience. Today, the situation is different. Either way, hardly anyone has time to take three weeks out of their daily routine to intensively learn and realise this comprehensive method for self-preparation of the actor as developed by Jurij Alschitz. I therefore suggest the following:
The first step can easily be taken online: during one month (22 March – 26 April), 8 group sessions will accompany your own intensive work step by step. This is the creation of a Vertical of the Role, i.e. your own monologue. In addition, each participant will be individually supported with 2 consultations. This allows you to complete the course having learnt the way to compose a Vertical. However, you have the option to continue:
In the second step, we will meet for a laboratory from 15 to 22 June, either in Berlin or at one of our European partners. Now it’s all about realising the Vertical of the Role on stage. This requires specific training. Why is that? The decisive experience of this methodology is the ‘vertical play’: I connect my body, my voice with words, themes, ideas in such a way that my acting ultimately leads to a moment of individual, higher cognition. Can I connect ‘vertically’, spiritually with the ‘light’ through the power of my acting? A real self-experiment.
